WAXHAW, NC – On Saturday, December 5, Waxhaw continued its annual holiday tradition of bringing the community together with two different events. At 12:00 pm, the Seniors Christmas Lunch was upgraded to a drive-thru with Santa at the end! Lunch this year was from McAllister’s Deli, with iced tea, a candy gift, and a Town of Waxhaw blanket. Many people from around the community pitched in to help spread the Christmas Cheer: Town of Waxhaw Mayor Ron Pappas; City Council Members Pedro Morey, Anne Simpson, Brenda McMillan, and Jason Hall; all of the wonderful folks at Waxhaw’s Park and Rec Team; and Santa and Mrs. Claus portrayed by Billy and Myra Sellers (Billy Sellers is Waxhaw’s Parks & Facilities Supervisor/Safety Coordinator and grew out his beard for these holiday events!).

After night fell, the Forest Hills Church parking lot was transformed into a socially distanced Drive-In Christmas Concert. Featuring performances by Rachel Sawhook, Keith Pierce, Progressive Movement Arts Center dancers lead by Tiffany Gorman, Embody Dance dancers lead by Stephanie Wilson, and a drive-thru from Santa, this chilly night had everyone singing and dancing in their seats. Several food vendors and Christmas fair vendors were also on site.
