WAXHAW, NC – Waxhaw Parks and Recreation proudly continues its HERO program, Health Education Recreation and Outreach, by providing free fun activities and crafts for the community. In line with the mission statement, the HERO program “provide(s) recreation, education, and cultural opportunities that promote a healthy lifestyle”. The town plans to incorporate activities that celebrate and promote cultural unity and inclusiveness through fun.
On Feb. 8, Waxhaw will offer a program called, “Unity Day”, which will be held at Grace Presbyterian Church from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Children will be engaging in a fun craft to promote cultural unity. HERO will display info boards promoting people of importance from all over the world. The program will focus on the Americans who stood up for human and equal rights as well as those important figures who have made their mark within their own countries and culture. The hope of this program is that it will encourage children to always be kind, stand up for what they believe in, be inclusive and show that they can make a difference in the world.
