Waxhaw VFD JAARS Substation Now Open

WAXHAW, NC – On May 28, 2022, the Waxhaw Fire Department opened a new substation at 7703 JAARS Rd, Waxhaw.  Chief Gregory Sharpe was on site giving tours and talking to the community about the new station.  The Waxhaw VFD Auxillary Team was also on site cooking hot dogs and hamburgers for all of the fire team and visitors.  This new substation will enhance the service of Waxhaw Fire Department south of the train tracks and provide a faster response to emergencies.  Staffing for the new substation will come from the Waxhaw full-time, part-time, and volunteer firefighters.

Firefighter of the Year: FF/EMT Jacob Rodriguez

EMT of the Year: EMT Aaron Bowman

Chief’s Medal: Erie Eller – Logistics project; William Kennelly – EMS supply project

10 Years of Service: Captain Michael Ferreira

15 Years of Service: Chris Jansen

20 Years of Service: Captain Marcus Lee
