WAXHAW, NC – Weddington men’s basketball has finished the regular season undefeated at 23-0. Women’s basketball at Marvin Ridge was undefeated in conference play, with an overall record of 20-4. Seeding for the 4A postseason tournament is projected to be completed within the week, and several Tri-W teams look poised to compete for a shot at the state title. Here is a look at how your Tri-W teams finished their regular seasons. 

Warrior men’s basketball’s final win of the regular season came by way of a 74-36 score over the Marvin Ridge Mavericks. Senior point guard Chase Lowe led the scoring effort in the Weddington victory with 15 points. Lowe led in rebounds as well, racking up seven on the night. He earned four assists, four steals, and two blocks. The women’s team at Weddington fell to Marvin Ridge in their last regular season game of the year, losing 71-27 at home. The Mavericks led in each quarter. Marvin Ridge has dominated the women’s 4A conference this year, finishing 10-0 in conference play, and not losing a game since December.

Sun Valley fell to Porter Ridge in their final men’s regular season game, losing 55-48 at home. Their final record for the year was 15-9, with a 4-6 conference finish. The Sun Valley women’s team will play one more regular season game against Porter Ridge on Monday, following a 51-34 win over the Pirates last week. Sophomore forward Aree Meaders led the Spartans to victory with 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and a pair of blocks. Senior guard Kinsley Turriff shared rebounding duty with freshman Zoe Bradley, bringing in nine rebounds each. Turriff earned 10 points on the night while Bradley earned five.

Currently in third place in the Rocky River 3A conference, the Parkwood men’s team looks to finish their season strong with a home-court matchup against the Central Academy Cougars. The Wolf Pack defeated the Cougars 64-43 last week and 71-52 earlier in the season. Parkwood is 11-13 on the year and 6-4 in conference play. The Parkwood women’s team holds first place in the 3A conference with a 19-5 overall record. The Wolf Pack is 9-1 in conference play. They ended the regular season on a nine-win streak following a 37-27 game against Central Academy and a 60-19 win over the Anson Bearcats.

At 17-7 on the year, the Cuthbertson women’s team holds second place in the Southern Carolina 4A Conference. The Cavaliers are 8-2 in conference play. Their last game of the regular season was a homecourt win over the Piedmont Panthers that ended with a score of 64-36. Cuthbertson’s lead scorer in their win over Piedmont was junior center Amanda Sacoto, raking in 17 on the night. Sacoto dominated on the boards as well with 14 total rebounds. She had four assists, three steals, and two blocks. Senior forward Ruby Williams earned 16 points, four rebounds, and three steals. The Cuthbertson men’s team fell short at Piedmont, losing 64-61 in double overtime. Their final record for the regular season is 10-13. They are 2-8 in conference play.
