What You Can Do to Keep Your Dream of Homeownership Moving Forward

These are certainly interesting times we live in.  Interest rates are generally down but change on a daily basis.  The same can be said for the stock market.

When it comes to the real estate market, we are in uncharted territory.  For the first time I can recall, in-person showings are not allowed in Mecklenburg County while the Stay at Home ordinance is in effect.

As agents, we are getting creative in how we show homes.  Virtual showings are a real thing now.  Buyers are making decisions based on a video tour of a home before they are able to see it in person.

As of this writing on March 27, 2020, there is not a Stay at Home order in effect for Union County or any of the other counties surrounding Charlotte.

Though we are changing the ways in which homes are toured right now, the overall process remains the same.  I found this infographic to be very informative and very helpful to keep things in perspective.

We will likely see some fluctuations in the housing market, but buyer demand is still there.  People are still relocating for work and need to purchase and sell homes.  Leases are ending and not everyone is putting their life – and home buying and selling – on hold.

You’re comfortable buying just about everything from your couch and your iPad.  It might be time to get comfortable purchasing homes that way, as well.

The basic steps still apply.

Get pre-approved.  (Virtually) Connect with an agent. Do your research. View listings (online).

Don’t put your dreams on hold.  This may still be your year to buy a home, and I am here to help you through the journey.
