Waxhaw, NC, February 22, 2018. — The CG Group (Skyecroft Realty) real estate team and Passionate Paws Animal Hospital to co-host 2nd annual Pups ‘N Pints pet adoption event at Mary O’Neill’s Irish Pub on March 25, 2018, from 1:00 – 5:00 PM, to benefit South Charlotte Dog Rescue and help fostered dogs find forever homes.
The purpose of Pups ‘N Pints is to help South Charlotte Dog Rescue, a local 501(c)(3) volunteer dog rescue, find homes for their many wonderful dogs ready for adoption to loving families. SCDR will also use the event to raise funds and awareness for their organization.
For the second consecutive year, the CG Group real estate team, Passionate Paws Animal Hospital, and South Charlotte Dog Rescue (SCDR) are teaming up to bring “Pups ‘N Pints” to downtown Waxhaw.
Last year’s event at The Dreamchaser’s Brewery drew hundreds of visitors to downtown Waxhaw and directly resulted in at least 9 fostered animals finding forever homes, as well as raising awareness and more than $2,000 for SCDR between merchandise sales, raffles, and direct donations.
Already a popular new addition to the Waxhaw bar & restaurant scene, Mary O’Neill’s Irish Pub, located at 116 West N. Main Street in downtown Waxhaw, is hosting this year’s event. Mary O’Neill’s will provide food and drinks (including alcoholic beverages) to guests through their restaurant and outside bar, and non-competing food trucks will be on site, as well.
Pups ‘N Pints came into being in 2017 when CG Group’s Jimmy Grappone and Passionate Paws’ owner Stephen Bonilla, both members of the Waxhaw Business Association, began collaborating on ways to bring a fun event to downtown Waxhaw that would benefit the local animal rescue community.
According to Passionate Paws’ resident veterinarian and co-owner, Dr. Susan Bonilla, “We wanted to create a fun-filled event that both spotlighted the great work South Charlotte Dog Rescue has been doing for our pet community and connect the residents of the community we both serve.”
As a client of Passionate Paws Animal Hospital with his rescue dog, Jack, Jimmy Grappone knew the important role fostering groups play in the role of saving the lives of many local animals.
“My business partner at CG Group, Bill Cormier, and I both have rescue dogs living at home with our families. We were looking for ways to be more involved and to give back to the Town of Waxhaw last year when we thought, ‘We love beer, we love dogs. Why don’t we put on a pet adoption at a bar?’ So, “said Grappone, “I got together with Steve at Passionate Paws, we used our connections at South Charlotte Dog Rescue and The Dreamchaser’s Brewery, and Pups ‘N Pints was born.”
The June 5, 2017 event was a tremendous success and the local business owners and the Town of Waxhaw are looking forward to another fun and successful event in 2018.
Up to 20 vendors (TBD) will set up at 10’x10’ spaces in the gravel parking lot behind the restaurant and next to the Waxhaw water tower, and many local businesses in downtown Waxhaw will offer special deals to guests who attend the event that day.
Several additional local businesses also plan to participate in the event, either as vendors, by offering in-store discounts on the day of the event, and/or by donating raffle prizes.
All donations are completely voluntary and 100% of the proceeds from the raffle will go to SCDR.
