The first kickoff of the 2019 high school football season is now less than a month away. The last dead period of the summer is over and workouts are back in full swing in anticipation of the first official practice on August 1. Scrimmages are continuing this week, allowing for teams to get a feel for the upcoming competition. The first games of the year will be held on Friday, August 23. These are the results of the 2018 seasons of Tri-W teams and their schedules for the upcoming weeks.
The Warriors were the winners of the 2018 NCHSAA 3AA state championship and ranked fourth in the state out of all NCHSAA divisions. Weddington was undefeated until game six when they suffered their first and only loss of the season to Charlotte Catholic by a score of 20-0. Their overall record was 15-1. They were 6-1 in their conference. The first game of the season for Weddington will be played on August 23 at home against Ardrey Kell. They will play Cuthbertson in their first conference game on September 27.
