Weddington

The Warriors were the winners of the 2018 NCHSAA 3AA state championship and ranked fourth in the state out of all NCHSAA divisions. Weddington was undefeated until game six when they suffered their first and only loss of the season to Charlotte Catholic by a score of 20-0. Their overall record was 15-1. They were 6-1 in their conference. The first game of the season for Weddington will be played on August 23 at home against Ardrey Kell. Three more non-conference games will follow against Porter Ridge, South Meck, and Catawba Ridge. Weddington’s first conference contest will be against Sun Valley on September 27.

Cuthbertson

The Cavaliers ended their 2018 season with an overall record of 3-8. They held a record of 3-4 in their conference. Cuthbertson is one of several Tri-W teams that graduated more than twenty seniors last year. Twenty-six Cavalier seniors graduated and roughly nineteen juniors are expected to return this year to fill their shoes as the new senior class. The first game of the season for the Cavaliers will be August 23 at South Iredell, followed by games against Metrolina Christian Academy, Anson, and Jay M. Robinson. Cuthbertson’s first conference game is against Parkwood on September 27.

Sun Valley

The Spartans were 10-3 overall in 2018 with a conference record of 5-2. They made it to round two of the NCHSAA state tournament last year where they were defeated by A.C. Reynolds 22-4. Like Cuthbertson, Sun Valley is returning without twenty-six seniors. There will be an estimated fourteen new seniors returning to lead the Spartans. They begin non-conference play against Charlotte Christian on Thursday, August 22. They will play Central Cabarrus, Concord, and Porter Ridge before facing off against Weddington for their first conference game.

Parkwood

The Rebels ended their season last year with a record of 2-9 overall and 1-6 in conference play. Parkwood only lost thirteen seniors in 2018. They will have one of the most experienced teams in the conference this year with twenty-six juniors expected to return to make up their senior class. The Rebels’ first four games leading up to conference play will be against North Lincoln, Cox Mill, Forest Hills, and Buford. They will play Cuthbertson in their first conference game on September 27.

Marvin Ridge

The Mavericks earned a 6-6 overall record in 2018 with a conference record of 3-4. They were defeated in the first round of the state playoffs by Mount Tabor by a score of 27-14.  Marvin Ridge will begin the 2019 season against Porter Ridge on Friday, August 23. Jay M. Robinson, Ardrey Kell, and Northwest Cabarrus will follow. Conference play will begin for the Mavericks on September 27 at home against the Piedmont Panthers.
