The USL Charlotte Independence who have been scoring goals throughout the season continues their slump against FC Cincinnati by not earning any points for their third straight game at a crucial time of the season during the stretch run.

Cincinnati won the contest 1-0 in the 75th minute on a corner kick which was headed by defender Kenney Walker to Kevin Schindler in front of the net who smacked the ball past the Jack’s goalkeeper Cody Mizell at point blank range for the score and game winner.

The home team applied more offensive pressure all night throughout the contest, however, they just could not poke the ball into the net to score a much needed goal or two.  In fact Charlotte outshot their opponent 20 to 6, but could not score a goal for their third consecutive game which is becoming a huge frustration.  The team had at minimum a dozen opportunities to score anyone of the 20 shots taken and just could not convert.

The Jack’s controlled the tempo of the game, played well otherwise, however to gain valuable points and win they must rediscover their scoring ways from their key offensive weapons in Enzo Martinez, Jorge Herrera, Jamie Siaj, Callum Ross and others to right this ship.

It must be very frustrating for Coach Mike Jeffries and the coaching staff as the talent is on this team to bounce back, score goals and win.  With two games remaining in the regular season before the start of the playoffs, the team must play Louisville the first place team in the Eastern division of the USL on the road and third place Charleston Battery in the home finale on Saturday October 14th in Matthews.

The good news is the team is still playing well in all other areas of the the game.  The defense remains solid, goalkeeping is strong, playing at a fast tempo, accurate passing and continued aggressive play.  They just need to finish out the scoring chances and opportunities when provided.  They have the weapons and talent, it’s just a matter of when, however, the sense of urgency is now.
