This weeks featured athlete is Davis Walker the 6’5″ 200 pound senior QB performer for Cuthbertson. The quarterback completed 27-48 passes for 318 yards against Anson in the Cavaliers 51-44 loss this past Friday night. Walker averaged 11.8 yards per pass completion, his longest completion was for 33 yards accounting for one of his five touchdown passes in the game. His overall quarterback rating for the game was 102.6 and Walker had a solid .562 completion percentage.
In the loss, Walker showed resiliency and competitive spirit in directing the offense while his senior leadership showed guiding the Cavaliers to five touchdowns in a tightly fought match-up between the two teams.
Walker connected with Jay Rector and Griffin Kelly each twice and also with Trevor Grant. The QB could now add his name to the Union County record books who have thrown for five touchdowns or more in a single game. This includes the record holder held by former Marvin Ridge quarterback Austin Colonna who had 7 TD passes in a game against Concord.
Congratulations to Walker for being selected as the Tri-W-News featured athlete of the week.
