
Tri-W-News Player of the Week selection goes to Whitner Litton, senior quarterback for the Weddington Warriors who are now 6-1 on the season. Physically, he stands at 6’1″ and weighs 155 pounds. However, a fierce competitor who sets the tone and tempo of the game for the Warriors offense.
The senior offensive leader played most of the game against Piedmont in the Warriors big rebound victory after suffering their first loss of the season against powerhouse Charlotte Catholic.
Litton connected on 4 touchdown passes to lead the Warriors to a 42-14 victory. The 45 yard TD thrown to James Shipley put the Warriors up 27-0. The first TD pass was a 5 yard reception also to Shipley for a 13-0 lead. The third touchdown pass was a 16 yard strike to Max Brimigion. The final TD pass was a quick 4 yarder to Chazton Jordan.
The quarterback missed the three previous games and his return to the lineup behind center made a difference. The senior showed composure and was poised in leading the Warriors to victory. Meanwhile, the Warriors defense deserves recognition as they forced five turnovers giving Litton and the offense excellent field position.
Litton is a good athlete and is a two sport competitor at Weddington. He is a solid lacrosse player and has committed to Virginia Military Academy to compete in lacrosse at the collegiate level.
