Cuthbertson Cavaliers

Football: 



Davis Walker – The senior QB completed 19/30 passes for 325 yards and 5 touchdowns in the Cavaliers first victory of the season over Parkwood.

Griffin Kelly – The wide receiver had 4 receptions for 131 yards.  He averaged 32.8 yards per catch and had a 50 yard reception.  Jayden Jennings – The senior had 5 receptions for 81 yards of offense along with 3 TD’s for the Cavaliers.

Marvin Ridge Mavericks

Football: 

Jake Cameron – The senior QB completed 13/16 passes for 110 yards.  His completion percentage was .812 and he picked up 53 yards rushing including a 38 yard rumble.  Matthew Wunder – completed 7/7 passes for 74 yards and one TD for a QB rating of 169.0.  In the rout over Piedmont sophomore QB Sully Mcdermott went 7/8 for 67 yards with his longest completion of 18 yards.  On the defensive side of the ball Will Smith had 9 tackles, 5 solo, 4 assisted and 2 sacks in the game.

Parkwood Rebels

Football:

Connor Purser – The junior running back for the Rebels had a solid football game with 107 yards on 14 carries.  Purser averaged 7.6 yards per carry and his longest single run from scrimmage totaled 35 yards.

Sun Valley Spartans

Football:

Sam Howell –  The outstanding senior QB who stands at 6’2″ and 218 pounds was awesome and dominated in the first half for over 300 yards of total offense.  He had more than 200 yards through the air and over 100 yards on the ground while accounting for three touchdowns.  Isiah Hall had an 11 yard reception for a TD and a 55 yard touchdown catch for the Spartans.

Weddington Warriors

Football: 

Will Shipley:  The all purpose player for the Warriors scored two touchdowns and converted on a 4th and inches deep in Weddington territory keeping the ball away from the Sun Valley potent offensive attack to run out the clock on the Spartans.  His 61 yard TD run in the second quarter kept the Warriors close and cut the deficit to 7 points.  Shipley finished with 146 yards rushing on 20 carries and four pass receptions for 25 yards.

Dante Casciola – The sophomore QB starting his third game went 10-16 for 118 yards and two TD’s.  He is maturing before our eyes and showed a lot of composure in his first big game against a major rival and number one ranked team in the area.

Honorable Mention:  Must go to the Weddington coaching staff and entire defensive team who shut-down the powerful Sun Valley offense in the second half and holding the Spartans down to only 48 yards to remain undefeated at 5-0.
