
Tri-W basketball teams are establishing their place in the Southern Carolina 3A Conference, as they play their last month of the regular season against SCC opponents. Conference wrestling is underway as well in the Tri-W area, with teams facing off in preparation for the SCC tournament in early February. Conference champions have been established in swim and dive, and several Tri-W athletes have earned indoor track state qualifications. Here is a look at what’s happening in Tri-W sports.

Marvin Ridge
The men’s swim and dive team at Marvin Ridge has earned the SCC title for the fourth year in a row. The team has earned the 3A state title for the last two years. They plan to compete for the state title again in early February. The women’s swim and dive team earned a third place finish at the SCC tournament.

Parkwood
Women’s basketball at Parkwood is 12-4 on the year after Friday’s 47-38 win over Monroe. They are 5-1 in conference play. The Rebels will continue conference play at home, this Friday, against Cuthbertson. Parkwood wrestling earned a 62-15 win over Sun Valley in their first conference dual match of the year.

Sun Valley
The Sun Valley men’s basketball team is 10-7 on the year after earning a conference win over Piedmont. The Spartans fell to Charlotte Catholic 67-50 earlier in the week. Conference play will continue for the Spartans on Friday against Marvin Ridge.
Weddington
Weddington men’s basketball is 11-5 on the year after earning two conference wins this week. The Warriors beat rival Marvin Ridge 52-51, and followed up later in the week with a 58-49 win over Cuthbertson. The women’s team at Weddington is 11-4 after a 44-36 win over Marvin Ridge. The Warriors will continue conference play against Piedmont on Friday. Weddington Wrestlers will match up at Charlotte Catholic on Friday as well.

Cuthbertson
Women’s basketball is 15-1 at Cuthbertson, and undefeated in conference play, after Friday’s 38-35 win over Weddington. They won 80-35 over Monroe earlier in the week. The Cavaliers are scheduled to play at Parkwood on Friday to continue conference play. Cuthbertson wrestling is 6-0 on the year after a 70-12 victory over Charlotte Catholic, and a 60-18 win over Marvin Ridge.
