
With less than a month left of regular season play, Tri-W area teams are vying for their playoff positions. Conference matchups, and conference tournaments, have teams competing at their best for a chance at postseason action in March. Here is a look at how Tri-W teams have performed against their SCC opponents.Â
Cuthbertson
Men’s basketball at Cuthbertson is 7-10 on the year, after their 64-35 win over Parkwood on Friday. Women’s basketball continues to lead the SCC at 7-0 in conference play. They are 16-1 on the year, after defeating Parkwood 55-43. The Cavaliers will play at home against Sun Valley on Tuesday. Cuthbertson will meet Parkwood again on February 7.

Weddington
Warrior wrestling took home second place overall at the Kings Mountain wrestling tournament. Several Weddington wrestlers went undefeated on the day including, Joe Zovistoski, Lachlan Bailey and John Gibson. Carter Backenstedt and Janyd Houghton were 4-1. Weddington women’s basketball earned a 43-23 win over Piedmont. They are 12-4 on the year. Weddington men’s basketball defeated Piedmont 43-23.

Sun Valley
Sun Valley wrestling hosted the Spartan Duals this week, and earned a 3-1 finish. They will compete in a tri-meet at home on Thursday. Sun Valley men’s basketball, now 11-7 on the year, defeated Marvin Ridge 71-46. They will play at Cuthbertson on Tuesday.

Marvin Ridge
The Mavericks hosted a tri-match this week against the Monroe Redhawks and the Parkwood Rebels. Marvin Ridge defeated Monroe 54-30, and fell to the Rebels 45-30. Women’s basketball earned a 59-40 victory at Sun Valley. They are 7-7 on the year and 3-4 in conference play. Basketball will resume for the Mavericks at Monroe on Tuesday.

Parkwood
Parkwood Wrestling hosted the Rebel Rouser dual team tournament this week, and finished with a 3-2 record on the day. The Rebels earned wins over Vance, Chesterfield and Catawba Ridge. Amir Joseph, Jake Rape and Cody Hardy were undefeated at the tournament. Parkwood earned a 77-4 win over Monroe, and a 45-30 win over Marvin Ridge earlier in the week.Â
