Football

Kendall Anderson Sun Valley receiver had four catches for 94 yards and one touchdown in the Spartans over Parkwood Sept. 28.



Josh Blocker Cuthbertson senior had four catches for 49 yards and one touchdown in the Cavaliers’ 24-7 win against Piedmont on Sept. 28.

Josh Sepe Cuthbertson junior had 16 tackles in the Cavaliers’ 24-7 win against Piedmont on Sept. 28.

Anthony Marple Sun Valley quarterback was 10-of-16 passing for 203 yards and three touchdowns and he rushed five times for 87 yards in the Spartans win against Parkwood.

Bryce McLain Marvin Ridge quarterback rushed nine times for 109 yards and he was 6-of-9 passing for 107 yards and two touchdowns in the Mavericks’ 51-7 win against Monroe Sept. 28.

Will Smith Marvin Ridge defensive player had 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, and he caused a fumble in the Mavericks’ win over Monroe Sept. 28.

Brendan Sroczynski Cuthbertson kicker kicked all five of his kickoffs for touchbacks and he made a field goal in the Cavs’ 24-7 win against Piedmont on Sept. 28.

Jason Stricker Marvin Ridge kicker made six PAT attempts in the win against Monroe and the junior has 23 touchbacks on 26 kickoff attempts through the first five games of the season.

Myles Wallace Cuthbertson junior rushed 11 times for 92 yards and one touchdown in the Cavaliers’ 24-7 victory against Piedmont Sept. 28. Wallace had a 33-yard run in the game.

Volleyball

Carley Owens Marvin Ridge volleyball player had 17 kills in the Mavericks 3-0 win over Cuthbertson Sept. 27. Owens has 200 kills on the year and she has a career mark of 983 kills. The win over Cuthbertson pushed the Mavericks record to 16-0 overall and 10-0 in the Southern Carolina Conference.

Noelle Soldo Marvin Ridge volleyball player had 17 digs in the Mavericks 3-0 win over Cuthbertson on Sept. 27. Soldo has 179 digs this season and she has a career mark of 1,032 digs.

Paul Nielsen
Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Nielsen has experience covering University of Arkansas athletics, including NCAA Tournament basketball games and several football bowl games. He also covered amateur and professional golf tournaments in Northwest Arkansas.
