J.J. Benton Parkwood running back rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown in the Rebels loss to Marvin Ridge on Oct. 6



Josh Blocker Cuthbertson receiver had five catches for 100 yards in the Cavaliers 34-27 win against Monroe on Oct. 6

Carson Cross Marvin Ridge defensive player had a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Mavericks’ 48-6 win against Parkwood.

Jack Davis Cuthbertson defensive player had a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Cavaliers’ win against Monroe.

Caleb Deveaux Marvin Ridge senior rushed nine times for 81 yards and two touchdowns and he had six tackles from his linebacker position in the Mavericks’ 48-6 win against Parkwood.

Carter Kendall Cuthbertson defensive player had 13 tackles and two sacks in the Cavaliers’ 34-27 victory against Monroe.

Whitner Litton Weddington quarterback passed for 256 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors’ 29-6 win against Piedmont.

Jason Stricker Marvin Ridge kicker had a career-best 51-yard field goal in the Mavericks’ 48-6 win against Parkwood. Stricker is 3-for-3 on field goal attempts this season.

Deaundre Scott Cuthbertson defensive player had 13 tackles and one sack in the Cavaliers’ 34-27 win against Parkwood.

Josh Sepe Cuthbertson defensive player had 13 tackles in the Cavaliers’ 34-27 win against Monroe.

Will Shipley Weddington freshman had two touchdown catches in the Warriors’ 29-6 win against Piedmont.

Will Smith Marvin Ridge defender had a team-best nine tackles in the Mavericks’ 48-6 win against Parkwood.

Paul Nielsen
Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Nielsen has experience covering University of Arkansas athletics, including NCAA Tournament basketball games and several football bowl games. He also covered amateur and professional golf tournaments in Northwest Arkansas.
