Football

Carson Cross Marvin Ridge junior had four interceptions, including one for a touchdown, in the Mavericks’ 25-18 win against Cuthbertson Oct. 13.



Trevor Grant Cuthbertson receiver had six catches for 114 yards and one touchdown the Cavaliers’ loss to Marvin Ridge.

Sam Howell Sun Valley quarterback was 17-of-28 passing for 325 yards and six touchdowns in the Spartans’ 42-14 win against Monroe. The junior now has 95 career touchdown passes.

Bryce McLain Marvin Ridge quarterback was 11-of-20 passing for 153 yards and he rushed for 77 yards in the Mavericks’ win against Cuthbertson.

Davis Walker Cuthbertson quarterback was 22-of-36 for 250 yards and two touchdowns in the Cavaliers’ loss to Marvin Ridge.

Myles Wallace Cuthbertson running back rushed 25 times for 100 yards and one touchdown in the Cavaliers’ loss to Marvin Ridge.

Caleb Woodley Marvin Ridge running back rushed nine times for 73 yards and he scored the winning touchdown in the Mavericks’ win against Cuthbertson.

Soccer

Hayden Green Marvin Ridge soccer player had two assists in the Mavericks’ 3-1 win against Weddington on Oct. 12. Marvin Ridge is 13-2-1 overall and 10-0 in the Southern Carolina Conference after the victory.

Ben Wood, Patrick Papa and Dimitri Lavin Marvin Ridge soccer players had one goal each in the Mavericks’ 3-1 win against Weddington on Oct. 12. Marvin Ridge has won 10-straight games and the Mavericks have a two-game lead in the Southern Carolina Conference standings.

Cross Country

Sarah LaTour Cuthbertson cross county runner and track athlete recently announced that she will sign with North Carolina State.

Paul Nielsen
Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Nielsen has experience covering University of Arkansas athletics, including NCAA Tournament basketball games and several football bowl games. He also covered amateur and professional golf tournaments in Northwest Arkansas.
