Football

Josh Blocker Cuthbertson receiver had eight catches for 106 yards in the Cavaliers’ loss to Weddington on Nov. 3.



Max Brimigion Weddington junior had six catches for 178 yards and three touchdowns in the Warriors’ 45-0 win against Cuthbertson.

Caleb Deveaux Marvin Ridge running back rushed 17 times for 100 yards and two touchdowns in the Mavericks’ loss to Charlotte Catholic.

Whitner Litton Weddington quarterback was 11-of-18 passing for 154 yards and two touchdowns in the Warriors 45-0 win against Cuthbertson. Litton also had a 5-yard scoring run in the win.

Bryce McLain Marvin Ridge quarterback rushed 13 times for 102 yards in the Mavericks’ loss to Charlotte Catholic.

Will Shipley Weddington freshman rushed 11 times for 118 yards in the Warriors’ win against Cuthbertson. Shipley had a 55-yard touchdown run in the game.

Will Smith Marvin Ridge linebacker had 15 tackles, including 12 solo stops, in the Mavericks’ loss to Charlotte Catholic.

Chase Turner Weddington defensive player had a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Warriors’ win against Cuthbertson.

Girls Cross Country

Sarah Bechtel Weddington High cross country runner finished in 10th place at the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships in a time of 18:59.96.

Anna Bristle Parkwood High cross country finished in sixth place at the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships in a time of 18:26.09.

Madeline Hill Cuthberston High freshman cross country runner finished in third place at the Class 3A Cross Country Championships in a time of 18:18.77.

Sarah LaTour Cuthbertson High cross country runner finished in seventh place at the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships in a time of 18:27.88.

Boys Cross Country

Kyle Durham Weddington High cross country runner finished in seventh place at the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships in a time of 16:02.24

Will Mazur Weddington High cross country runner finished in eighth place at the Class 3A State Cross Country Championships in a time of 16:02.94.

Paul Nielsen
Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
