The 2017 high school season was memorable for local football teams. Marvin Ridge, Cuthbertson, Weddington and Sun Valley all made the playoffs. Cuthbertson won a first-round game while Weddington advanced to the Class 3A quarterfinals. Sun Valley is playing in the Class 3AA semifinals Friday.
