Josh Blocker Cuthbertson receiver caught six passes for 83 yards and one touchdown in the Cavaliers 48-6 win over Anson County.

Max Brimigion Weddington receiver had seven catches for 138 yards and one touchdown in the Warriors’ 25-14 win against Porter Ridge.



Jackson Cheek Cuthbertson sophomore had two interceptions in the Cavaliers’ win against Anson County.

Whitner Litton Weddington quarterback was 17-of-35 passing for 242 yards in the Warriors’ 25-14 win over Porter Ridge.

Bryce McLain Marvin Ridge quarterback was 10-of-16 passing for 118 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed nine times for 81 yards in the Mavs’ 35-0 win against Ardrey Kell.

Will Smith Marvin Ridge junior had nine tackles, including five solo stops in the Mavericks’ win against Ardrey Kell.

Davis Walker Cuthbertson quarterback was 11-of-16 passing for 172 yards and three touchdowns in the Cavaliers’ win against Anson County.

Myles Wallace Cuthbertson running back rushed 13 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns in the Cavaliers’ win against Anson County. Wallace also returned the opening kickoff 79 yards to set up the Cavs’ first touchdown.

Caleb Woodley Marvin Ridge junior rushed 10 times for 71 yards in the Mavericks’ win over Ardrey Kell.

Volleyball

Alicia Davis Weddington sophomore had four kills, eight digs and two aces as the Warriors moved to 4-2 overall with a 3-0 win over Monroe August 31.

Adriana Jordan Marvin Ridge junior has seven kills, three aces and 29 digs for the 5-0 Mavericks.

Carly Owens Marvin Ridge senior has 66 kills, 51 digs and 18 aces for the 5-0 Mavericks.

Noelle Soldo Marvin Ridge senior has 60 digs, 10 aces and five kills for the 5-0 Mavericks.

Cross Country

Anna Bristle Parkwood senior won the girls’ race at the Weddington Home Meet August 30 in a time of 19:08.80. Anna Davis of Weddington was second in a time of 19:55.70.

Kyle Durham Weddington junior won the boys’ race at the Weddington Home Meet in a time of 16:52.01. Will Mazur of Weddington was second.

Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Nielsen has experience covering University of Arkansas athletics, including NCAA Tournament basketball games and several football bowl games. He also covered amateur and professional golf tournaments in Northwest Arkansas.
