Max Brimigion Weddington receiver had four catches for 99 yards and he intercepted a Sun Valley pass in the Warriors’ 36-35 win.



Trevor Grant Cuthbertson receiver had nine catches for 109 yards in the Cavaliers’ 24-0 win against Parkwood.

Whitner Litton Weddington quarterback was 11 of 29 passing for 213 yards and two touchdowns in the Warriors’ 36-35 win against Sun Valley. He also rushed for one touchdown.

Bryce McLain Marvin Ridge quarterback was 14 of 24 passing for 214 yards and three touchdowns and he rushed 10 times for 109 yards in the Mavericks’ 42-14 win against Piedmont.

Chris Panko Cuthbertson junior had 22 tackles in the Cavaliers’ 24-0 win against Parkwood.

Devin Powell Marvin Ridge tight end had five catches for 76 yards and one touchdown in the Mavericks’ 42-14 win against Piedmont.

Will Shipley Weddington freshman had two interceptions and a touchdown run in the Warriors’ 36-35 win against Sun Valley.

Will Smith Marvin Ridge junior had an interception and six tackles in the Mavericks’ 42-14 win against Piedmont.

Chase Turner Weddington defensive player had a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Warriors’ 36-35 win against Sun Valley.

Davis Walker Cuthbertson quarterback was 23 of 33 passing for 269 yards and three touchdowns in the Cavaliers’ 24-0 win over Parkwood.

Myles Wallace Cuthbertson running back rushed 21 times for 90 yards and he caught one pass for 18 yards in the Cavaliers’ 24-0 win over Parkwood.

Cross Country

Sarah LaTour Cuthbertson girls cross country runner was a double winner last week as the senior won the Union County Championship on Sept. 19 and the Hare and Hounds Invitational on Sept. 23. LaTour won the Union County race in 18:23.00 and the Hare and Hounds race in 18:19.22.

Paul Nielsen
Nielsen was a sports writer for what is now the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for nearly 32 years before moving to North Carolina in February 2016. At the Democrat-Gazette, Nielsen's primary responsibility was beat coverage for Rogers High School. Rogers is a Class 7A school located in Northwest Arkansas.
Nielsen, a University of Arkansas graduate, covered the Northwest Arkansas Naturals Minor League Baseball team from 2008-2015. The Naturals are the Double-A affiliate of the Kansas City Royals.
Nielsen has experience covering University of Arkansas athletics, including NCAA Tournament basketball games and several football bowl games. He also covered amateur and professional golf tournaments in Northwest Arkansas.
