The Parkwood Rebels have beaten the Cuthbertson Cavaliers in their final conference game of the regular season.  Since two double digit losses to Cuthbertson earlier in the season, Parkwood has shown a serious turnaround  to achieve what could be the biggest Southern Carolina 3A Conference upset of the year.

The win came for Parkwood on Thursday behind the pitching efforts of Sophomore Carson Starnes who allowed for only three hits and one run in more than five innings pitched.

Parkwood faced their own difficulties at the plate, achieving only five hits on the night.  Big hits did, however, make the difference in an otherwise close game as the final innings came around.  Three runs in the last three innings by seniors Jesse Harkey, M.J. Lucas and Austin Laney put Parkwood out of Cuthbertson’s reach.  A solo homerun by Lucas put the nail in Cuthbertson’s coffin making the final score 3-1.

Parkwood followed this victory with an 8-5 non-conference win over Providence Day to wrap up the regular season with a final record of 10-2. The Rebels will face the Piedmont Panthers on Tuesday to begin the post-season SCC tournament.
