Sarcopenia

WAXHAW, NC – Have you ever heard of Sarcopenia? It’s the loss of skeletal muscle mass and strength as we age. If you looked at a visual of what an average person’s muscle looks like at age 30 vs. at age 65, it is jaw-dropping to see how much we lose as we naturally age. Why does strength loss matter? When we lose strength, we begin to have weakened cardiovascular health, we see the loss of structural support, and slowed metabolism. The primary treatment for Sarcopenia is exercise, specifically resistance training and strength training.
